After School Activities

14 Nov 2016

Each term, After School Activities offer opportunities for children to learn new skills, explore different areas of talent, make friends, and form relationships with supportive adults. Montessori School Bali manages the after school activities for primary children, currently at our Bumbak campus. There are five activities that the children can join and these are: soccer club, Capoeira, science club, arts and crafts, and circus skills. The activities generally run from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Soccer Club is popular among the boys (although some girls play too) and happens every Monday with coach Taufik, who has experience in coaching children ages 6-12.There are 16 children who have joined the club this term so the club is extended until 4:10. In this way, the younger ones can have a chance to play/have a match amongst themselves and provides a better outcome for all students. The coach delivers tactical, technical, mental and physical sessions for all the children. They enjoy the club very much.

Science Club is our new after school activity in Term 2. This program is headed by Hindi. The children have science club every Wednesday and Thursday. This club is hands on activities and science experiments. They explore the world around them. Every week they focus on a different theme. Some of the themes they will explore this term are bubbles, the sun, and explosions.

Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art  that combines elements of dance, acrobatics and music, and is usually referred to as a game. This activity is headed by Noko from Zungu Capoeira Bali who has had experience in capoeira for many years. This club is attended mostly by the younger children every Wednesday. The bigger children who attended this club when they were in Lower Primary usually continue to the next stage at Zungu Studio. They have so much fun in doing the movements.

Arts and Crafts are fun for children. These art & craft activities cover a wide range of subjects for young artists. This activity is headed by Shirley from Bali Art Media every Thursday.  This term they are focusing on Christmas decorations. The children enjoy making their own Christmas trees, snowmen, canes, and many more.

Circus Skills is headed by Nadia from Bali Circus Company. The class runs every Friday. The children learn how to juggle, spin plates, throw a diabolo, spin poi, hula hoop and much more.  This is a good way to build stamina, strength and flexibility of the children. The children also have an opportunity to dress up like professional circus players.

We look forward to offering after school activities well into the future and hopefully increase the variety as the school grows into the Berawa Campus.
